Lodge Overview
Ngorongoro Tented Lodge is located in the southern part of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, approximately 50 km southwest of Karatu Town. The lodge offers an intimate and luxurious safari experience with 10 comfortable luxury tents, each designed to accommodate two guests. It also features a spacious dining area and a welcoming reception.
The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is a unique multiple land-use zone that spans highland plains, savanna, woodlands, and forests. Established in 1959, it is one of Tanzania’s most important protected areas, where wildlife coexists harmoniously with the semi-nomadic Maasai pastoralists who practice traditional livestock grazing. At its heart lies the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest intact caldera.
Recognized globally for its outstanding biodiversity, the area supports a high density of wildlife, including globally threatened species, and serves as a vital corridor for the annual migration of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelles. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area also holds immense archaeological significance, with discoveries that provide evidence of human evolution dating back 3.6 million years, including early hominid footprints.
