6 Days Selous Udzungwa and Mikumi Safari Overview

A Selous, Udzungwa, and Mikumi safari is a safari that visits Selous Game Reserve, Udzungwa Mountains National Park, and Mikumi National Park in Tanzania. These parks are part of the Southern Circuit, known for its wildlife and natural beauty. This private safari offers you the flexibility to travel at your own pace exactly how you like it. You will have a private safari vehicle and a guide.

Day by day

Day 1: DEPART FROM DAR-ES-SALAAM TO NYERERE NATIONAL PARK (BOAT SAFARI)

Drive from Dar-Es-Salaam to Nyerere National Park (approx. 5 hours) with a picnic lunch On your arrival go for a boat safari along the Rufiji River, till sunset.

Nyerere National Park (previously the Selous Game Reserve) – an amazing place for game drives. This park in southern Tanzania has fewer visitors than the northern parks but boasts elephants, hippos, crocodiles, lions, leopards, giraffes, endangered rhinos, rare African wild dogs, and more.

DAY 2. DRIVE TO NYERERE NATIONAL PARK (GO FOR A FULL-DAY GAME DRIVE)

Full-day game drive at Nyerere National Park, A full day of exploration allows you to venture deeper into the park, with your experienced safari guide using their expert knowledge to ensure that you have the best chances of encountering wildlife up close. Your guide will tailor your game drive around your preferences – whether it’s tracking a particular species or spending extra time at each sighting – as you explore the game-rich landscapes of the Selous (Nyerere National Park).

DAY 3. WALKING SAFARI AT NYERERE THEN DEPART TO MIKUMI (EVENING GAME DRIVE)

Morning short walking safari at the bush with the guide at Nyerere National Park areas, later depart to another park called Mikumi National Park, on arrival check in then go for an evening game drive.

Bush walks are a great way to get close to nature and learn more about the smaller species and the bush itself. A bush walk gives you the chance to explore the intricate details of the bush, from tiny insects to towering trees, as well as stretch your legs. Although you may spot some giraffes, or warthog, or walk in the footsteps of elephants, our bush walks are tailored to allow you to learn about the things you miss from a vehicle or boat – the ecosystem that the animals live in.

DAY 4. GAME DRIVE AT MIKUMI THEN LATER DRIVE TO UDZUNGWA – NIGHT OVERSTAY

Morning game drive at Mikumi National Park. Early the morning of this day, you will leave for sunrise Game drives start from 06:30 am for about 3 hours before breakfast, which will be taken within the park. After breakfast, we will continue with our game drives, watching out to spot the big 5 animals except for the rhinoceros which is missing in this park, and other wildlife species.

DAY 5. DEPART TO UDZUNGWA MOUNTAINS (HIKING AT SANJE WATERFALLS)

Early in the morning get breakfast and depart to Udzungwa Mountains. On your arrival go hiking at Sanje Waterfalls.

Sanje waterfall in Udzungwa Mountains National Park is one of the waterfalls in the national parks system of Tanzania having the highest waterfall about 270m high. This waterfall has a unique and distinct characteristic that gives a wonderful experience to visitors.

Sanje waterfall is divided into three stages: 170m, the first, 30m, and 70,m which is far away, about 3.2 k,m as one moves towards the peak. Sanje waterfall is renowned all over the world as it offers a beautiful and pleasant environment for visitors to refresh after a long hike

DAY 6. GO FOR MAASAI BOMA VISIT THEN LATER DEPART TO DAR-ES-SALAAM

Early morning, our driver will pick you up at your Hotel and go for a cultural tour to visit the Maasai people, where you’ll interact with them learn about their culture, and participate in traditional dances and crafts. Finally, return to Dar es Salaam with unforgettable memories of Tanzania’s wilderness and cultural heritage.
