Ilboru Safari Lodge

Ilboru Safari Lodge in Arusha has been welcoming guests to Tanzania for seventeen years. Annelies van Beest, the current owner, manages the lodge with a hands-on approach that has been a huge success with guests. Annelies brings her sense of style and many years of experience in the Tanzanian hospitality industry to every aspect of the lodge.

Beautiful Accommodation

Nestled on the lower slopes of majestic Mt Meru, the legendary Ilboru Safari Lodge has been welcoming mountain climbers and safari travelers to northern Tanzania for decades. Ideally located between the northern safari circuit and Mt Kilimanjaro, this beautiful Swahili sanctuary is set on a five-acre plot, tucked away beneath ancient trees on the outskirts of Arusha town.

There are forty-eight cottages in which to accommodate our guests single, double, twin, triple, and family rooms. Four cottages are in the main building, close to the pool and other facilities, each with a balcony overlooking the garden. The rest of the double cottages are situated throughout the lushly landscaped grounds.

 

 

Services

Reception

On arrival, you’ll be greeted with a refreshing drink with friendly receptionists will then give you a full briefing on what to expect during your stay.  The reception desk is staffed 24 hours a day and here you can get assistance, book excursions, store excess luggage, and make use of our lodge safe.

Dining

characterized by an excellent chef and his team working passionately to create a seasonally adapted menu featuring fresh produce from the surrounding farms here on Mt Meru. The lodge restaurant is a favorite with locals as well as guests and serves three meals daily.  Opening hours are from 6 am until 11 pm. Additionally, there is a poolside menu for a la carte lunches and light bites.

Gift Shop

The hotel has two gift shops: one is a component of our commitment to the community where locally crafted beadwork from a spectrum of Maasai women throughout the area is on display and for sale.  The larger gift shop is located in the reception/lounge area and is stocked with a wide variety of Swahili curios, wood carving, fabric, beadwork, books, accessories, and more at reasonable prices.

Pool

The swimming pool is rated as the best in Arusha, if not the entire northern safari circuit! The centerpiece of the lodge measures 22 meters long, giving ample opportunity for real exercise before and after your stint on the mountain as well as a refreshing dip during hot days.

There is complimentary wi-fi in the main areas of the lounge, reception, lounge, restaurant, and swimming pool as well as our conference center.
