Tanzania Night Game Drive gives your safari a completely different twist as you see all the nocturnal animals that you not see during the day. These animals now appear with eyes lighting up in the darkness when the headlights of the safari jeep meet them. Your guide tells you all about these night lovers, and helps you to spot nocturnal species such as porcupines, civet cats, genets, bush babies, lions and leopards.

Spotting predators & prey

A night game drive is a wonderful opportunity to spot predators and prey alike. The lights of our 4×4 safari Jeep illuminate an unseen world, unknown even to experienced safari adventurers. Spotting the shy nocturnal creatures who scuttle, feed, and fight their way through the Bush at night can be every bit as exotic and exciting as sighting larger mammals during the day

Seeing in the dark

Our sharp-eyed Masai Guides may seem able to see in the dark but are aided by night torches and spotlights (using filters, so as not to alarm the animals they illuminate). Our specially converted car is equipped with a heat-seeking night-vision camera known as a ‘fair’, whose infra-red images are relayed to screens on the seatbacks ahead of you.

Guests need only look up to discover another wonder – a night sky obscured by light pollution. Galaxies of stars fill vast skies, adding yet another unexpected and rare dimension to life in the Bush.

SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK NIGHT GAME DRIVE

Night game drives in Tanzania allow visitors to view the activity that occurs in the evening as well as encounter nighttime wildlife such as the ones described above, as well as a variety of Tanzanian birds such as Aardvarks, Wood Owls, and Night Jars, among many others.
